Our Story

Verdant Table began with a simple idea: that the best meals start a few miles from the kitchen. We opened our doors in downtown Durham to celebrate the growers, ranchers, and makers of the North Carolina Piedmont — and to give them a table worthy of their work.

Every morning our chefs meet the day’s deliveries and let them shape the menu. A crate of just-picked tomatoes, a wheel of fresh cheese, the first squash of the season — these decide what you’ll find on the plate that evening. Nothing travels far, and nothing sits long.
